WELCOME & KARIBU
on the joint website of the Tanzanian NGO Unapendwa Tanzania Foundation
and the German Unapendwa e.V.
Together for a self-determined life!
Unapendwa is a partnership between a Tanzanian NGO and a German association. Together, we advocate for women, children, and young people from socially disadvantaged families or those facing difficult life circumstances. Through individual sub-projects, we jointly support people in becoming self-reliant, create opportunities to combat poverty, violence, and abuse, and offer hope, prospects, and the chance for a better life.

Unapendwa means "you are loved" in Swahili – an expression that reflects our belief:
Every person deserves to be seen, supported, and loved.
With this basic idea, we want to make exactly that possible through Unapendwa.

Unapendwa Tanzania Foundation
The Unapendwa Tanzania Foundation is a Tanzanian NGO responsible for implementing targeted project work.
It provides direct support to children, young adults, and women in their local communities. The associated project house serves as a counseling center, safe space, and educational venue.
Reflective and critical development work
Development aid and volunteer work abroad – especially in the context of our projects in Tanzania – must always be critically examined. Issues such as dependency, power imbalances, and the so-called white savior complex demonstrate that well-intentioned aid can have unintended consequences if it is not implemented sensitively and respectfully. It is important to us to consciously address these challenges and take responsibility. We are guided by values such as mutual respect, empowerment, and collaboration on equal terms to strengthen long-term prospects on the ground.
